Our extensive advertising and editorial coverage in the angling press was fundamental in educating anglers on the importance of quality, and created a much more discerning market. Our success in creating this market has led to other suppliers making efforts to improve their quality.


We at Ammodytes are committed to delivering superior quality angling baits. Our attention to detail when it comes to packing and blast freezing      as quickly as possible ensures minimal spoilage. The quality of fish is paramount, freezing locally caught mackerel within an hour and never more than three hours from landing.

Fast freezing is essential for high-quality fish products. Fish flesh consists of 60% to 80% water, and when the temperature falls below 32.F, ice crystals begin to form throughout the tissue. Slow freezing creates large ice crystals that break up the texture of the flesh, while fast freezing forms small crystals that allow the flesh to remain firm when thawed. Slow freezing also concentrates salts and enzymes within the cells, which become more active and adversely affect texture.
